were no door prizes -- and then things began to turn ugly."

2005 Holiday Banquet

The WNT annual Holiday Banquet was held on December 10, 2005.  There was plenty of delicious food, great prizes, and wonderful auction items.  A few pictures are shown here of the activities during the Banquet.  Click on a thumbnail image to see a larger image.

The Food

Wonderfully delicious food and desserts were in great abundance and the wily photographer was able to sneak up close for some pictures while everyone was distracted by the goodies.  Wyatt Compton served as official taste tester and pronounced the ham fit for a woodturner.  Everyone is enjoying good conversation after the meal while waiting for the door prizes and raffle.

The Prizes

Some of the door prize and raffle winners are pictured below.  The distraction of all of the prizes made them easy prey for the photographer who was able to shoot some unsuspecting prize winners. Other prize winners became nervous and managed to elude the wily photographer.  Next year, the photographer plans to wear camo to avoid detection.  Among the winners, Stormy Boudreaux won a chunk of stump wood (can you imagine someone who is not a woodturner getting so excited about a gnarly chunk of half rotted wood?).  Humberto Hernandez won a Jet mini lathe (wonder why he's not holding it for the photograph).

The Auction

The crowd checks out the auction table and Larry Roberts sizes up the competition. A couple shots show some really nice work being auctioned.  The auctioneer for the evening is Ken Phillips, who as usual did a superb job and also provided a lot of humor while doing his work.  Thanks, Ken for a superb job.
